When we set off for our meet my sophomore year I had no idea the day would be as great as it was. as we arrived to the meet the air was brisk and sent a chill down your spine like a good horror movie, yet it was a beautiful late fall day. Prairie valley had just finished building their new weight room and when we walked in you could feel the smooth concrete beneath your feet, you could see the new bright chrome barbells in their homes on a bench or in a squat rack. The smell of chalk was floating throughout the room like a fresh baked pie at grandmas, but this was only the beginning to a great day. The other teams had checked in and we were up, not one of the other teams had as solid a lifter in some class as we had so we were very confident in getting a fairly good team score. With all the stress and athletes trying to drop a few pounds quick the weighing room was filled with the smell of a boys locker room after a rainy day of hard practice, or as a girl would say the stench of a cattle barn at the fair. I looked around the room and took it all in and wondered what the rest of the day would hold.
