“Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn” (google.com). This quote can easily describe the character Reverend Jonathan Hale in the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller. The Crucible is placed in Salem, Massachusetts during the Salem Witch Trials in 1692-1693. Miller wrote The Crucible to show the similarities between McCarthyism and the Salem Witch Trials. Moreover, since Reverend Jonathan Hale is motivated by his will to find witchcraft, his decision to try to get the condemned to confess creates controversy by the end of the play.
At the beginning of the book, Reverend Hale was called upon to go to Salem, Massachusetts where he was assigned to help find witches because, he is an ordained minister who “feels himself allied with the best minds of Europe- kings, philosophers, scientists, and ecclesiast of all churches.” (Miller 34) This is a description of him that is used to show how he has a narcissistic personality and show that he is a man that believes that the word of God is the only way to truly prove one’s innocence. Towards the beginning of the book Reverend Hale comes into Salem with a stack of books he is struggling to carry. He says that the books are heavy because “They must be; they are weighted with authority”(34)

Rose said that his mother “stood at a table or booth and removed a plate for this person, another for that person, then another, remembering who had the hamburger, who had the fried shrimp, almost always getting it right. She would haggle with the cook about a returned order and rush by us, saying, He gave me lip, but I got him. She’d take a minute to flop down in the booth next to my father. I’m all in, she’d say, and whisper something about a customer. Gripping the outer edge of the table with one hand, she’d watch the room and note, in the flow of our conversation, who needed a refill, whose order was taking longer to prepare than it should, who was finishing up”( Rose
Another piece of evidence from paragraph 32 on page 54 is, “‘Then we’ll eat,’ said the woman, ‘I believe you're hungry—or been hungry—to try to snatch my pocketbook.’’ ’ This quote supports
The coming of age novel, Jasper Jones was first published in 2009 by Craig Silvey, the play was then adapted by both; Craig Silvey and Kate Mulvany. It was first presented by Barking Gecko Theatre Company in Perth, Western Australia, on 17 July 2014. The plot of the play is centred on protagonist Charlie Bucktin, and various obstacles he must overcome as a consequence of aiding Jasper Jones in the concealment of Laura Wishart’s body, Bucktin’s former girlfriend. Jasper Jones is perceived as a trouble maker; perhaps a major contribution to his reputation is also the colour of his skin. The story takes place in the small mining town of Corrigan, in the midst of the Vietnam War, where prejudice towards those of colour created segregation between those within the community.

This took courage because, on the night of the murder, Tom and Huck made a vow never to tell anyone about what they saw. Tom is very superstitious, and he really believes that he may die now that he broke the oath.

There was one quote in the book “sweet food of sweetly uttered knowledge” I think he meant knowledge was something he loved and was dear to him, and should be dear to other people.
