1 March 2023 Becoming a Registered Nurse Registered Nurses have many important responsibilities. Registered nurses are responsible for looking after patients, keeping tabs and making reports on them, and giving them medicine and treatments to help them. They also have to complete tasks that many people are unaware of like training students and other healthcare workers, preparing rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies. As well as handing items to surgeons in some cases (“Task List”1). There are many great things being accomplished when becoming a nurse. While attending highschool, you can take classes such as chemistry, anatomy, sociology, physiology, and advanced versions of these courses. During your highschool years you can also enroll in programs like health occupations which have on the job training and the opportunity for a CNA license. After highschool, college is next, you must complete schooling up to an associate or bachelor’s level degree, while in training at a hospital as well (“Education”1). You must pass a test to receive your nursing license after receiving your degree. Then, you can start your …show more content…

You will need a CNA, you must also pass The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), you will also need to attain a minimum of an associates degree in nursing (ADN), (“Find Certification”1). To complete these the CNA license must be completed first, then attending college and receiving your degree in nursing, lastly you should take the NCLEX-RN exam to be on your own on the job. After these are completed you can begin the climb for higher up and better paying positions. Registered nurses have certain skills and abilities to help them succeed in their job. A nurse needs the ability to communicate, work with people, reason and problem solve, perceive, and visualize (“Skills and Abilities”1). They also need good science and chemistry skills, along with math skills (“Skills and Abilities''1). Most importantly nurses have the ability to help, the biggest purpose in the nursing career is to help others which is why I want to pursue this job.
Registered nurses in Missouri make an average of $61,920 yearly, advanced level nurses make an average of $94,690 yearly (“Job Outlook: Salary”1). Many nurses are paid more than average because they work on holidays with a higher pay. They also tend to make a little more money due to the high demand for nurses which means they work a lot longer
