The demand for nurses has been higher than ever due to the shortage of nurses. Nursing is the career I am looking into pursuing, more specifically a travel nurse. I am considering this career because I want to accomplish helping others and saving lives. I have some background knowledge of what travel nurses do and where they can go; I know being a travel nurse is a well-paying job and they are helping to mend the nursing shortage. My personal connection to this career is my cousin’s girlfriend, Jordan. Jordan is currently an ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nurse working to become a nurse anesthesiologist. It is much more than just traveling to a new city. There are many factors that go into becoming a travel nurse. You need to find employment through staffing agencies to obtain a contract. The agencies usually provide the nurse with medical and dental services and help with finding accommodation, but the nurse is allowed to pay for these things themself. “Hospitals and healthcare facilities work with travel nurse staffing agencies to hire travel nurses to fill their staffing needs. To obtain a travel nurse contract, you’ll need to work with an agency. There are 340 travel nurse staffing agencies. in the U.S'' (Beaker What is a Travel Nurse?). The nurse has the choice to decide between a long-term or short-term contract. Once your contract is made, you can not end it early unless the hospital or facility does not need your help anymore. If you want to “build your resume” you should take a contract with a top-rated hospital. For example, John Hopkins Hospital or Mayo Clinic would be high-rated hospitals to work at that will help you get hired at a hospital you want to work at. Travel nurses are not allowed to work in any state they want unless they have a license in that state. So, to be able to travel to different states, you need a license in the states where you are accepting the contract. It would be too hard to get a license for every state, so one solution to this is to get the eNLC (Enhanced Nursing Licensure). This license is one license that works for 39 states, so that work can be started immediately in any state you want to be hired in. Personally, I would be interested in obtaining this license so that I can travel to more states and won't be limited to one or
