In the five years as principal, her school met exceptional growth in the areas of reading and math. When asked how the school had progressed with her as principal, she said, “I created professional learning communities to focus on student learning and differentiated instruction.” After much success as a principal at Sunland Park, she was offered a principal position at Anthony Elementary. Anthony Elementary had not met AYP standards for three consecutive years. When Ms.Perez got to Anthony Elementary, the teachers had many excuses as to why Anthony Elementary was not meeting the AYP standards.
I am interested in becoming a TK assistant teacher at Providence Day School. I believe my pedagogical style reflects the Providence Day commitment to students, allowing students to be intellectual risk-takers within a community of supportive learners and educators. My life experiences and my enthusiasm will allow me to teach with compassion and understanding to help students achieve academic success while nurturing their social and emotional skills. I will be graduating from Queens University of Charlotte with a degree in Elementary Education on May 6, 2017. The second domain in the Florida Principals Leadership Standards is composed of three different standards. The first of these is Instructional Plan Implementation and is about how an effective leader must collaborate to develop and implement an effective instructional framework that aligns with the required standards and meets his/her students’ needs (“The Florida Principal,” n.d.). Due to the variety in options that are available to align instruction to a pupil, given that the instruction will be adjusted to his/her needs, I feel that the situational leadership approach will be able to be implemented in this situation to create better results as “different situations demand different kinds of leadership (Northouse, P., 2016). The different leadership styles that make up the Situational approach can be tied to this standard by connecting the necessary leadership style with the supportive and directive behaviors in the task that is performed. As an instructor, I will spend time in the S1 category of the Situational Leadership Model as I make use of a “common language of instruction”, spend time between the S1 and S2 categories by “communicate the relationships among academic standards” and by being engaged “in data analysis for instructional planning and improvement”.
District Profile The Martin County School District (MCSD) consists of 20 schools servicing more than 19,000 students. The district received an “A” rating from the state of Florida for the 2016-2017 school year, reflecting an increase from a “B” rating in 2015-2016. The district continues to strive to meet the needs of its diverse learners from both an academic and social/emotional perspective, so that students can be successful as they enter life beyond MCSD. The charts below represent the racial make-up of the student and staff populations. Additionally, nearly 40% of the student population is economically disadvantaged.

Personal Statement for NQT Year I have been lucky enough to have been taught by some truly inspirational teachers and am aware of the effect they have had on my life and the choices I have made subsequently. My own passion for working with young children extends from my desire to emulate these role models and perform the same inspirational function in the lives of my students. I have always enjoyed being around young people and have supplemented my interests in primary teaching with as much work experience as possible. I completed my PGCE Education course and qualified in 2006.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.
They take the time to know their students and know them well. They appreciate what attributes to each child’s story and take ownership of their role in the child’s life for that school year. I feel that I have the skills and attributes of an outstanding teacher because of the pride I take in the love and support I show my students and families. One of the unique aspects of the Department of Child Development and Family Relations is that many of the department’s large core courses offer teaching assistant opportunities to undergraduate students. Teaching assistant opportunities are valuable for undergraduate students to decide whether to apply as a graduate teaching position, great addition to a resume, and for a letter of recommendation. From my teaching assistant experience, I was able to fully grasp the concepts of middle childhood development, form a new appreciation for professors and teaching assistants, and reflect on myself as a student.
