Not everyone is entitled to a well paying job, or entitled to all the resources they want or need. This experiences really changed the way I see life and made me really appreciate all that I have in life. I am thankful for everything I have, and will donate to charities such as The Ark when I have the
One of the organizations I am proud to donate to is the United Service Organizations, or USO. Since 1941, the USO has supported troops at home and abroad. With the intent to lift the spirits of troops and their family members, the organization endeavors to provide a “home away from home” feeling for all the families dealing with the rigors of serving overseas. The organization became famous for its Camp Shows over the years--with some occurring in active war zones. To make this all possible, the USO relies heavily on private donations.
The Friar is man of who is supposed to be of the lord, to protect and advise the people who follow god. The Friar is not supposed to be the reasoning for the deaths upon
The Friar is a deceitful fellow who uses his faith as justification to benefit himself.. “But rich he was in holy thought and work”(line 479). “Therefore, instead of weeping and prayer, Men should give silver to poor friars all bare”(line 231-232). The Parson’s quote goes to explain how everything he does in his work is strictly to spread Christ’s gospel; he is not looking for an ulterior motive in his journey.
Giving back or just give someone who needs our help when they need it the most.
The red cross hepl people in a house that was on fire and if they didn’t a lot of people would of died. St Francis of Assisi was born in Assisi in 1181. Originally, Francis was named by his mother, but then soon renamed Francis, which pretty much means Frenchman, by his father. His mother was a pretty lady from France and his dad was a rich merchant owned farmland. Due to his father’s wealth, Francis lived good, easy-going life. Francis was one of those people that you automatically liked once you met them because everyone loved him.
As well as how I cannot take things for granted because others are less fortunate and they do not even have the opportunities and amenities I am able to have. This gave me a new understanding of how others have to survive from day to day. From my first mission trip experience, I have gained a new understanding of how far your actions can go and how important it is to show care and compassion to others whether you know them or they are complete strangers. Danny Thomas once said, "Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others.
Identifying a person as having either an anal retentive or anal expulsive personality may be viewed as an insult due to specific stigma’s that are attached to each of them. The components of each personality type differ immensely. One type controls their urges and the other gives into them. There are two characters who emulate the two different personality types, the peasant and the friar. In The Summoner’s Tale, Thomas the peasant and Dan John the Friar are two perfect examples of how anal retentive and anal expulsive behaviors dictate the choices they make by withholding or giving into their desires.
Lastly, as a vice president of the Lions Club, I took part in providing eye screening for students in underserved schools. Recently, I met an employee of U of M Dearborn who brought his children to one of our events. He gratefully thanked us because his son obtained a pair of glasses after being screened and referred by our club. He said, “ My son has no headaches now and can see better.” Being told this filled me with a great sense of compassion towards those in need and opened my eyes as to how a small act of kindness can greatly impact someone 's quality of life.

I have had the unforgettable opportunity to personally raise $1,400 for kids to go to summer camp, whose families could not afford it otherwise. I have worked at food drives, homeless shelters, and kid’s programs in my town, in hopes to make someone’s day a little bit better and ultimately make my community stronger. These experiences shaped who I am today. While I cherish the experience I had making a difference in my own town, I am ready to grow and leave a positive impact somewhere else in the country.
Italy on lock-down as Saint Padre Pio 's corpse transferred to Rome The stigmatic saint is being given higher security measures than a head of state. Straightaway, weight was being lifted of these people’s shoulders and they began to smile. We went on to sing to our veterans that were hooked up to dialysis machines. Seeing this shattered my heart into a million pieces, however the smiles that I could see on their faces mended it all right back together. This experience that the choir gave me was something so very
As Roman Catholics, it is our religious duty to serve others whether those people are a part of our religious community or whether they are from any other type of community. Service is an important aspect of life for not only Catholics but also every single person in the world. By performing various acts of service in our communities, a person’s life can be greatly improved just through a simple act of kindness and love from the person’s heart. Not only can an act of service be beneficial to the person or organization that the volunteer is performing the service for, but it can also be beneficial to the person who is partaking in this act of service for another human being. No matter your age, your background, or your religious affiliation, service is a crucial part of our everyday lives and everyone should get involved in this and do a service out of the good of their hearts.
