St Francis of Assisi was born in Assisi in 1181. Originally, Francis was named by his mother, but then soon renamed Francis, which pretty much means Frenchman, by his father. His mother was a pretty lady from France and his dad was a rich merchant owned farmland. Due to his father’s wealth, Francis lived good, easy-going life. Francis was one of those people that you automatically liked once you met them because everyone loved him. He was very caring and greatly confident. People would always look out for Francis and help him if he needed a hand. As Francis grew older, he became the leader of a very reckless group and became a disobedient teenager. After his virus passed, Francis was eager to join the army and battle southern Italy, so he bought some classy equipment. While he was wearing his new and luxurious armor, Francis encountered a man poorly dressed. Francis switched clothes with the man giving him his fancy clothing. That same night, Francis discovered a huge fortress filled with arms that he was pretty sure for him and his soldiers; the sign of the cross was carved on all of the weapons. Francis set of for Apulia, determined he was going to win. Unfortunately, on his way there, Francis got ill again and never made it to the fight. During his sickness, Francis heard a spiritual voice telling him to “serve the master and not the slave.” Francis obeyed and went back slightly to his former life. People would see Francis in such deep thought and ask him if he was in love and Francis would reply saying yes, only he was in love with “lady poverty.” One day, Francis was riding around town on his horse when he saw a leprous man with brutal wounds.
