We all have life goals. Things we need and want to do, but sometimes life events can prevent you or makes it more difficult for you to stop you from doing what you want to do. An occupational therapist can help people define tools and strategies to overcome barriers such as illness and disabilities. According to the American Occupational Therapy Association, “Occupational therapists help people across the lifespan participate in things they want to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities ”(American Occupational Therapy Association). They help them to regain, develop, and build everyday living and work skills that they have lost, or sometimes, never had. Their goal is to help their clients lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives. Being an occupational therapist can be a demanding job, both physically and emotionally. You must have a flexible work schedule, your schedule will have to fit in with the clients it can be very demanding. A therapist's interacts with all kinds of people newborn trough the elderly. A client may be anyone from a child with disabilities who is adapting to school life, to an older person suffering from severe arthritis, to a person recovering from a workplace injury or car accident. According to the National Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates, “Most occupational therapists earn somewhere between $21.27 dollars per hour. Their national median income is about $44,240 a year according from some data in 2014”(N.O.E and W.Estimates). An occupational therapist works 8 to 9 hours a day, 40 to 45 hours a week.
