Paul Revere (January 1, 1735 - May 10, 1818) was a Patriot in the revolutionary war remembered for his self-less ness and his most famous accomplishment, “The midnight ride of Paul Revere.” He was a great leader and role model in the beginning of our new nation. On the night of April 18, 1775, a patriot leader in Boston, Joseph Warren hears word about an attack on Concord, where patriots were keeping arms and also where patriot leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams were staying. British troops were marching to Concord to destroy the arms and capture Hancock and Adams. Warren sends Paul Revere to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock.
There are many famous Americans that helped America win the Revolutionary War. Benedict Arnold however, did not and tried to aid the British to victory. Benedict Arnold was born on January 14, 1741 in Norwich, Connecticut. Arnold’s father was a successful businessman who wanted his son to be well-educated and successful as well. After three of Benedict’s siblings died, his father fell into an alcohol fueled depression.
On January 14,1741, Benedict Arnold was born to a well off family. A sea-captain and merchant for a father and a widow for a mother. Arnold throughout his life has had to make hard decisions, for in 1752, at age eleven, Arnold was sent away to boarding school. Arnold
The letter that Arnold sent to Shippen was very similar to the one that he sent to Betsy Debois, which means he did not think much of Shippen in the first place because it was sent to Debois only a few months before. Looking back on his childhood when his family was wealthy and then was taken away because of some poor financial decisions, it also played a role on the future and powerful Benedict Arnold. While older and seemed more intelligent, older Arnold spent too much money than he was making and was mad because the promotion process wasn’t happening fast enough. Power and money hungry, Arnold met with the British army and worked out a deal where he would get the best of both worlds, he would be promoted to a higher level in the British Army and he would receive a much greater amount of cash so he can spend more than
He had had problems with the Continental Army. In 1777 he left the Army because he felt he was being passed for promotion, but Washington asked him to return. Ducharme states that “Arnold contends that his treason was a product of these combined motivations: his dissatisfaction with the French alliance, his stormy relationship with Congress, and his desire to end the war” (1319). The public believes that Arnold's motives were based on greed, self-interest, and personal insecurity.
While being on the council, Bacon abused his powers by disobeying orders from Berkeley, forcing people to fight for him, and later on, burning Jamestown, certainly fitting the definition of a traitor. Governor Berkeley gave very specific orders and disliked when others disobeyed them. When Bacon saw that Berkeley did not
Nathaniel Bacon is one of the few rebellious people whose name has been taught from school to school in America. “Why is that?” , you may ask, “Why him? Why is his rebellion significant in American history?”. Bacon’s rebellion used to be seen as the start of the American Revolution, but now, modern historians have uncovered the truth of the Virginian Rebellion of 1676.
He was born into somewhat of a rich family, but when three of his siblings died, his father began to drink and fell into difficult financial problems (Biography.com). As a result, Benedict left school. Later in 1757 he enlisted in the militia, and traveled to upstate New York to fight the French. Arnold settled in New Haven later, and formed a partnership with merchant Adam Babcock, and together they bought three trading ships and established trade connections with the West Indies (Biography.com). Initially, after reading the story, I was confused on whether or not Brutus counted as a betrayer or a patriot and it seemed almost impossible to find out, but as I thought more on it, I discovered he had limited time before Caesar was officially crowned so he had limited options. However, I believe Brutus was a patriot because instead of joining the conspiracy right away when he is offered the chance by Cassius, he refuses because he does not think Caesar deserves something so harsh. Once Cassius plants the fake notes from Rome Brutus decides to kill Caesar because he doesn’t want the people becoming Caesars slaves. So instead of wanting to kill Caesar out of jealousy like Cassius, he just wanted to kill him in order for him not to turn the people of Rome into slaves. Brutus may also seem like a traitor because he chooses to die rather than be captured and
