Gerrymandering is the process of redrawing boundaries to benefit the political party in power. An example is Nevada, in which the four districts show the three forms. Gerrymandering was made after Elbridge Gerry, who was the governor of Massachusetts and Vice President of the U.S., signed a bill that redistricted the state to benefit his party, which was later called Partisan Gerrymandering. An individual observed the oddly shaped district as a "gerrymander" causing a newspaper reporter to print a cartoon of a monster based on it.
There are many different opinions about the Senate. Some poeple want to abolish, reform, or keep it as is. The Senate costs us $60 million. However, if the Senate is reformed and the members are elected, it will cost $120 million every year. The Senate acts as the "sober second thought".
Some obstacles that third parties face include voters believing that their vote for a third party candidate is a waste, since that candidate is unlikely to win. Also, third parties usually focus on a single personality or a single issue and that can lead to less popularity among voters. However, the most significant obstacle a third party faces is the winner-take-all system, where in the majority of states, the presidential candidate gets all the state’s electoral votes with the highest percentage of votes. This basically takes all the chances of a third party wining a presidential election.
California is probably going to decide the Democratic nominee. If Hillary lose California big you can expect a contested convention to happen on the Democratic side. Hillary won 't have enough pledge delegate once the primaries are over. This would be a good thing for Trump it give him the time and energy he needs to come up with a ground game. I hope that Trump will use the convention as a way to recruit Bernie Sander support to our side.
Brianna Whorley 2A Current Event 1 In response to the Orlando shooting, protests broke in Congress about the controversy on gun control. During this protest many republicans tried to stop the sit-in by shutting down cameras that were broadcasting the sit-in on national TV; however, democrats stood their ground by taping the speeches and posting them via periscope and Facebook. One democrat stated that, “the sit-in was breaking rules anyway.” By Wednesday afternoon many democrats and over 34 senators out of the 44 that were attendance were on the floor of the house (some literally on the floor).

Some people's life stories can show us the hardships that one can go through in history or the future for the upcoming generation to share their story. One of the books that i've read was ‘Night’. The author is the main character of the story, Elie Wiesel, who went through a german concentration camp that was meant for people to work till they drop, literally. The second book is ‘Boys in The Boat’, by Daniel James Brown. In this book a boy named Joe Rantz as the main character, this story talks about how he and his team won gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
A citizen would not be wasting their vote by voting for a third party candidate because it is not a waste of a vote if they believe in the person you vote for or if they believe it is the right choice. For example if the citizen agrees with the candidates policies they will be voting for the right reasons. This is because they are not voting for anyone just because they are popular and are said to win. A citizen should want their message to be advocated to america through someone who believes in their message. That someone will promote issues that the citizens want to be heard.

The scope of the effect that a third party has in the United States is extremely limited. Not only do candidates from the Tea Party need to outcompete opposing members from the Democratic Party, but they also have to compete with members of the Republican Party, a party with which it shares very similar ideology. In order for third parties to successfully enact their agenda, minor parties like the Tea Party either have to influence the elections of major party candidates that they support, or prevent the elections of candidates they oppose.
