Ben Hall was born in the British penal colony of New South Wales in May 1837, at Maitland in the Hunter Valley. Both of his parents were convicts who were transported to Australia for stealing goods exceeding the value of one shilling. His father was Benjamin Hall born in 1805, Bristol, England and his mother was Eliza Somers born in 1807, Dublin, Ireland. (See The Hall 's page.) Ben Hall whilst a young child moved with his father and mother from his birthplace of Maitland, NSW to a remote farm in the vicinity of an area referred to today as Ben Hall 's Creek, as squatters.
He was the first black inventor as well. Benjamin is mainly known famous for the almanac he wrote, this had all sorts of things in it like things about the solar eclipse,stars,science,and math. He had written things about the solar eclipse in the almanac because he was the first person to accurately predict a solar eclipse. Benjamin Banneker was born November 9, 1731 in Ellicott's Mills Maryland. He grew up on a cotton plantation he was the son of a former slave by the name of Robert and his mother Mary both of his parents where ex-slaves giving Banneker freedom from birth. At a young age he was taught to read by his grandmother at the same time he attended a quacker school. He was self-taught for the most part teaching himself literature, history, and mathematics. With such great intelligence he had multiple accomplishments in the near future.
