For the 2016 presidential election I will be eighteen years old, so I plan to vote for Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders seems like a good candidate to be elected as the new president of the United States because he cares about us the people. A few reasons why Bernie Sanders would make an excellent president are because he plans to make college free, open work opportunities, and give everyone a reasonable work wage with those new jobs. However, the most important reason for me as a woman would be Bernie’s proposal to fight for women’s rights.
As President, Bernie Sanders plans to make college education free for all students. There are many students that only graduate from high school and then cannot afford to attend college to get a higher education. Then there are those students who do attend, but spend most of their lives paying off their school debt. Bernie intends to achieve this by first making tuition free at public colleges and universities. It’s not an impossible thing to accomplish seeing as how other countries have found a way to offer free college, which encourages students to attend since they don’t have to pay. Although many claim that there is gender equality in the United States, it is untrue. Out of all the women inequality issues Bernie Sanders hopes to fix if he becomes president, unequal wage and maternity leave are the ones that entice me the most. Women are faced with inequality of receiving a low working wage compared to men for doing the exact same job as them. Women who work full-time only earn 78 cents for every dollar a man earns, which is very unjust. Therefore, increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour would remarkably boost the wages of more than 15 million women which would help close the wage
