The candidate I think should be president is Bernie Sanders. There are many things he wants to contribute to that I agree with, such as affordable housing, the lowering of prescription drug prices, a creating what he calls a “living wage.” There are some things that I disagree with him, but the candidate you choose is most likely not going to fit all of your requirements. Bernie Sander’s “Living Wage” is his plan to increase minimum wage for all workers. He believes that the minimum wage amount should be $15 dollars an hour. He also believes that we must establish equal pay for working women. According to him, millions of American employees work for more than 50 hours a week and do not receive overtime pay. Bernie is encouraging the Obama Administration to provide overtime pay protection for workers. This new rule will extend its protection to those who make less then $947 a week. Creating these new laws, the people of America will have the funds to sustain themselves as well as treat themselves. His most proudest achievements in office was creating the first municipally-funded housing in the entire nation. This continued to create homeownership opportunities for families with a moderate income. Still, even though the housing market has improved, there are many people who are hidden under a mountain of mortgages and loans. Bernie Sanders wants to expand the National Affordable Housing Trust fund, and going back to jobs, raise minimum wage to give young adults the ability to pay for their houses. This is an important issue since the homeless population has increased throughout the year. Sanders wishes to solve this problem, and giving the working people a place to stay.
