Whose arm got bitten off by a shark only when she was 13. Bethany is a professional surfer who lost her left arm while lying on her surfboard in the water. She was an really hopeful person that never gave up to to pursue her dreams. Hamilton, was such an inspiring person to so many people and many people look up to her for a role model. Bethany was such an inspiring person that know she has a lot of respect for her. Before Bethany Meilani Hamilton Dirks was the person we all know today, she was like all of us, a child. She was born on February 8, 1 990 in Princeville, Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. She was born in Hawaii which makes her American Hawaiian. She learned to surf with her parents, which taught Hamilton how to handle waves at an early age. From their Hamilton knew that she was going to be an surfer because she enjoyed to surf. On October 31, 2003 on Tunnels Beach, Hamilton was lying on her surfboard with Ha`ena her best friend also with, Alana Blanchard, and Alana's brother and father. Hamilton got attacked by a 14 feet tall tiger shark that came up and bit her left arm off. She did not feel any pain at all! She realised that her arm was gone when most of the water around her was all red, but when the shark was biting her arm of she did feel an intense pressure. When everyone found out, Blanchard's father brought Hamilton back to shore, she was taken to a hospital right away. She was treated in the hospital of Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She lost 60% of blood in the attack and she thought that she was not going to survive, but she did not lose
