What do babies know? They cry themselves out of the womb, innocent of the world around them. Their uneducated minds, unaware of their own desires and their own necessities, grow to form their own perception of life. Mothers, fathers, doctors, and other caretakers give babies a chance to live and mature into “choice-making” individuals. As these little wonders grow, they discover that the earth inhabits endless creatures and plants. Eventually, they realize the shortage of the critters, beasts, and plants that once grew beside them. Where did these organisms go? We killed them and now we are killing ourselves. Humanity wants to survive forever. When humans learn the truth of their responsibility in climate change, they panic and choose to deny their role in icebergs falling into the ocean and unprecedented storms slashing the main lands of many civilizations. God tells the people how to live within one verse. “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth […]” (Genesis). “Replenish,” is the one-word humanity forgets in their day to day tasks. In other words, God tells humankind to nurture and revive the earth., to keep it anew from the withering of time. Without humankind in the world, earth would lose its balance. For instance, if one species dominates another species, who is there to control the order? Who is there to clean up after a natural disaster? Genesis establishes humanity’s importance to the existence of every species. As time continues, the world changes, and man’s intellect is the only thing profound enough to fathom the crisis the world will soon meet.
