Purpose
The purpose of this proposal is to request that the existing bicycle lanes, rules, and regulations be revamped and updated in order to increase safety for students, cyclists, and motor vehicles by preparing for the expected influx of students and bicycle traffic on campus within the next few years.
Summary
At Texas A&M University a highly discussed priority is the safety of motorists, bicyclists, transit users, as well as anyone that might be around or come into contact with any of these modes of transportation while walking, sitting, or …show more content…

With the cyclist populations expected to do nothing but grow even larger in the future, the need for renovations on the bicycle program is more important now than ever.
Proposed Tasks
With the University’s approval, I would perform the tasks listed below as the first steps to renewing the bicycle program at Texas A&M:
Task 1. Acquire an understanding of what the student body feels needs to be improved about the program and what standards the university must meet for the renovations to be safe and efficient.
The students and faculty of the university are aware of the problem with the bicycle program and will have ideas on what type of changes should be made to it. Finding out what their suggestions are would be the first step. Asking cyclists, walking students, transit drivers, or anyone who could be affected by the bicycle riders and a change in the bicycle routes provides insight into the plan.
Having spoken with a few of the transit bus drivers and cyclists myself, I know that they feel that the cyclists would be the safest and out of the way if they had their own lanes that didn’t cross through busy
