Each of these post-it notes show the growth of Bilbo Baggins throughout the book. When he meets the dwarves he is meek and not very brave. When he comes up against Gollum he uses his wit and riddles to get away and keep the ring that he has obtained. Bilbo becomes even braver and resourceful when he uses his ring and sword, Sting, to free the company from the spiders. Bilbo begins showing his worth as a burglar when he frees the company and escapes from Mirkwood with them without being caught.
The dwarves discover something that they didn’t think would happen when they first started onto their adventure, they have relied on Bilbo more than once to get them out of a sticky situation. The dwarves, first heart broke when they hear that Gandalf was leaving them, didn’t think that Bilbo was a worthy burglar to bring onto the trip, believing that he had caused the trip to slow more than necessary. They then begin to realize and discover why Gandalf did leave them though, Gandalf knew that Bilbo would help the dwarves as the journey progressed and he gained more
So, Bilbo decided to help them out. In the prison Bilbo had seen that there was dwarves in the prison. He went to where the dwarves were and got the key. Then he went to every single cell and let them out.
Bilbo fails to steal a bag from a Troll’s pocket when he was told to observe the red light from the dwarves’ camp. (43) From this failure, the dwarves begin to doubt his usefulness as a burglar, causing him to lose faith in himself. As time progresses, Bilbo proves to the dwarves, especially Thorin, and himself of what he is capable of. He gains confidence with the defeat of each of his enemies.
The “hero’s Journey” begins with a call to an ordinary individual to leave the ordinary world. This calls prompts the individual to leave the common life to venture into the realm of the unknown. The journey continues with the individual leaving the ordinary world to descend into the special world. The decent into the special world brings the individual through different adventures and experiences that reveal weakness and allow for strength and development to conquer those weaknesses. Bilbo baggins journey represents the “hero’s Journey”as he leaves the ordinary world as an ordinary hobbit,enters the special world as a developing warrior,and returns as an unexpected hero.
Bilbo's life has changed a lot after just one night. One day he was just doing the normal thing and staying at his home, the next day he was pickpocketing a giant, later he was walking on a rock giant in a deadly storm, then he gets into a underground place with an unknown creature. Bilbo has really done something with his old house life. First, Bilbo has never done anything compared to pickpocketing a giant. The dwarves saw a light then told bilbo to go check it out.
In the beginning of the movie "THe Hobbit" Bilbo is a small peaceful hobbit who lives in the Shire. He loves to keep things in order, was never late, and disliked adventures or anything unexpected. As the movie progresses he starts to portray more courage, bravery, heroism and becomes more adventurous. When the dwarves offer Bilbo to join them on their quest, Bilbo faints upon hearing the news. He decides to join their quest anyways and finds that in the beginning its really uncomfortable and wishes that he was back in his cozy little home.
Bilbo is confronted by Gollum in the goblin caves. Bilbo wielded a dagger which he “thrusted [it] infront of him” (Tolkien 34). Gollum lacked weapons giving Bilbo the greater advantage but because Bilbo sympathized with Gollum, he decided to spare Gollum’s life and negotiating peace with the enemy rather than engaging in violence. Rather than killing Gollum, Bilbo embraces the irregular heroic quality of empathy. Bilbo develops a sense of affinity for the dwarves and their quest after seeing their “fierce and jealous love, the desire of the hearts of dwarves'' (Tolkien 8), which drives his aspirations to aid them rather than seeking glory for himself.
Tolkien, is about a hobbit (A small mythical creature with very large feet) who goes on an unexpected journey with Thorin Oakenshield, a wizard (Gandalf), and 12 dwarves (Fili, Kili, Balin, Dwalin, Oin, Gloin, Dori, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur) excluding Thorin. This novel was written in third person limited, meaning that the narrator is telling the story only being able to see the thoughts of one character. Throughout the novel they are constantly being pressured and must push on no matter what. Bilbo Baggins (the hobbit) goes on this journey with Thorin Oakenshield to reclaim the lost kingdom of the dwarves, or the Kingdom Under the Mountain, the mountain itself is named the Lonely Mountain. The band of dwarves, Bilbo, and Gandalf travel there to reclaim their lost treasure because there is a whole spew of wealth guarded by a greedy dragon, Smaug.
Bilbo Baggins the Burglar Thesis: In the book The Hobbit, the character Bilbo Baggins is a middle class hobbit who must challenged his introverted nature to help the dwarves reclaim their land. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit, who lives in his hobbit hole. Hobbits are generally short and fat introverted people who don’t leave their house much. Bilbo Baggins was living like that, until one day, thirteen dwarves and his old wizard friend(Gandalf) enter his house and start eating and talking like it was their house.

In the story The Hobbit, by J.R.R Tolkien, a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins, who goes on a great adventure. He fights in many battles, verbal and physical, to fight for the greater good. Bilbo learned how to support his friends and how to be self reliant. The character changes from beginning to end, evolving into a heroic leader.
In chapter 5 of The Hobbit in the riddles in the dark chapter this is the major turning point in Bilbo’s career as a burglar, but Bilbo is almost caught by the the creature that lives in the darkness of the cave, Gollum. When Bilbo falls in the cave he tries to find out where he is, but it is completely dark and he can barely see anything as he stumbles in the dark. As Bilbo is stumbling he comes across a golden ring and picks it up without thought, but this was the turning point of his career and what he didn’t realize that this was a powerful ring that had the ability to turn him invisible. In Mirkwood, the dwarves and Bilbo are starving when they get captured by spiders, and Bilbo has to save them, “Bilbo saw that the moment had come when he must do something. ”(Tolkien 64) Bilbo escapes by himself and then finds the dwarves trapped and defenseless against a mob of spiders which Bilbo has to defeat by calling them names, and angering them until Bilbo has unraveled the dwarves.
