People in the world look up to heroes, people who are strong, smart, and unselfish. Every once in awhile, the audience meets a hero who they would think could never do it. This character is Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who only seems to care about food, But throughout, The Hobbit, he starts to prove the audience that he does a lot more than care about his next meal. Bilbo starts to show traits of a hero when he goes on his Took side, when he saves the group from the prison, and when he kills a spider. Bilbo starts being that heroic character from the beginning of, The Hobbit, when he starts to resemble his Took side. If it wasn’t for his Took side, he wouldn’t have ever even went on the adventure, if it wasn’t for his Took side, the group would have never got where it was at the end of the book. Just look at chapter two in, The Hobbit, when Bilbo tries to steal food from the trolls by using his Took side. First of all if it wasn’t for the Took side, he would have never even thought about trying that. In chapter nine of the, The Hobbit, Bilbo hides for two weeks, finds Thorin, and speaks about his plan which was to put the dwarves in empty wine barrels and send them to Lake town. After a while, the group agrees to this plan, Bilbo gets the keys to the cells from a drunk guard and clings on to one of the barrels the dwarves were hiding in. This information makes this hobbit an unexpected hero because a hobbit Bilbo risked his life for the safety of his friends, which most heroes do, but the thing is is Bilbo is a tiny hobbit who usually follows the same routine.
