Then one day he meet the wizard Gandalf. Gandalf talked to him and said if he would like to go on an adventure. He said no because the poor hobbit did not want to go out his comfortable home. So Gandalf left, but he put a sign over the doorway. Bilbo went to sleep but when he woke up he is woken up by a loud knock on the doorway. He was greeted by a great amount of dwarves. They kept coming and coming and he wondered why. The dwarves said there was a sign above the door that he was a burglar. That’s what the dwarves needed on their journey. His main and most important characteristic is heroism. I think it is the most important trait because the way he influenced the book with heroism. He is the one who changes and influences the plot majorly through his role as a burglar for the group. He is not the heroic type in the beginning of the book. He keeps very much to himself. For example it says in the book that he lives in a hobbit hole and does not want to go on an adventure. Then he goes on the journey and goes against everything he wants. He sleeps on the ground, fights dragons, and even risks his life. This influences everything because he did not want to go and he changed his mindset completely since the beginning of the trip. Gandalf showed me that Bilbo would be a great hobbit and end up the killer of the dragon. The example is when he knew Bilbo would be the best for the job even though Bilbo didn't like to travel or go out of the comfort of his home. He also knew that Bilbo needed to go out in the world and experience it. So an example is that when Gandalf put the sign over the door to make sure the dwarves would see it and not miss Bilbo. Gandalf was also there with them most of the journey and he knew that Bilbo would be the key to this treasure and to show Bilbo how important this journey was even if it risked Bilbo’s life many times. But Bilbo also influenced the conflict of the book
