Biodiversity Of Bee Species Report

Introduction-
Biodiversity is the variation of species in life. There are a ton of species in planet Earth, and the set of species are even different from themselves. Biodiversity can be studied anywhere. Large habitats have a unique biodiversity varying to large animals and interesting plants. However, no matter the size of the area biodiversity can also be studied, because there are different types of plants and insects found. Taxonomy is used to classify living organisms. It is very difficult to classify all these species because of lack of time, resources, not being able to see the variety of organisms at a certain period and because of species being so similar to one another. Biologists are able to classify the species through taxonomy. …show more content…

An experiment was similar to ours in that they were searching for biodiversity in the grasslands at the counties of Butler and Creble in Ohio. They found different types of bee species in their area. They however had a larger sample of nine grasslands and they collected 2672 bees which could be classified in 48 different species of bees (Peters et al., 2016). Another thing that was similar was the fact that they found bumblebees in Ohio (Peters et al., 2016). This suggests that the hypothesis of if we saw these bees in a small area like the UIC greenhouse then we should be able to see these bees around the eastern side of the US because both of them have similar climate and habitat for the bees to be around is correct. Another thing that was similar in our experiment compared to the experiment in Ohio was that the bees were usually around flowers to pollinate. The article mentioned that they saw that the bees were typically around the flowers in the grassland because they depended on it for food. On the contrary, their 9 areas of grass could not find a single native honeybee (Apis mellifera) (Peters et al., 2016). It could because grasslands don’t have what these bees need. This hurts the hypothesis generated because the two areas are similar but those native bees were not found
