Billy, a seventeen year old, was moving closer to his new job in Bath when he was nearly doomed to a disturbing demise. It was a very cold night, and Billy was on his way to the Bell and Dragon, when a Bed and Breakfast caught his eye. “It compelled me somehow, it felt as though I were in a trance” Billy recounts. The cheap prices and thoughts of comfort eventually persuaded him to stay at the B&B. “I rung the doorbell, and she popped right at me. The landlady was like a jack-in-the-box. I pressed the bell—and out she popped! She made him jump quite a bit.” “I settled in and went to sign the book when I saw only two other names signed in. I recognized the names from the beginning, but from where I didn’t know.” Billy tells us that he was offered tea by the landlady, but he refused. Temple, were missing gentleman around the same age as our Billy. They went missing three years and two years ago respectively. Billy remember that and he then began to feel ill. It this very moment, Billy says, that he knew that something was amiss. Turns out Billy was poisoned with arsenic, a toxin known to taste much like almonds. “I began to feel pains in my stomach. My balance was flipped, as though the world was upside down. It was the last straw, there was no way I was staying.” Billy says that he saw this hoax of a landlady was more than what she seemed. “I ran, and ran like I never ran before,” Billy claims, “I grabbed my coat and hat and saw her reaching for a scalpel. I bust down the door and kept running.” It at this point where Billy collapsed and subdued to shock from the arsenic. I pedestrian saw him and contacted the police. It was a miracle that he survived. Had fortunate Billy consumed the entirety of the tea, there is no way he would ever escape that
