Since beginning my A-Levels I have been captivated by the field of biomedical sciences and the work that is always happening behind the scenes to keep our population healthy. My initial interest was sparked by the Covid-19 pandemic and hearing of the work going into researching the virus and subsequently its vaccine. I want to pursue this career because I find processes that go into keeping humans healthy, diagnosing diseases and in turn saving lives fascinating. I want to be able to change people's lives for the better and apply myself and my knowledge to accelerate the process of diagnostics and research to save lives and make a genuine difference in my community. My deep interest in biomedical science has shaped my academic and personal journey, aiming me towards a career dedicated to understanding the intricate mechanisms of life and making tangible contributions to healthcare. The opportunity to explore the complexities of the human body and apply scientific knowledge to improve diagnostics, develop treatments, and enhance the overall well-being of individuals has always been my primary motivation, seconded by a huge satisfaction upon successfully completing lab work or making breakthroughs. …show more content…
These subjects have provided me with a secure foundation of the fundamentals that underpin biomedical science. Taking part and engaging in-class work, and laboratory experiments such as DNA extraction in a professional research lab and analysing results with expert software with the guidance of Dr Desire Dalton has not only expanded my theoretical understanding but has also helped me learn the importance of conscious and particular observation, critical thinking, and attention to detail all of which are skills that are crucial to take into my next steps and would be integral for success in the
