In his article “the Common app Fallacy” written in 2008, Damon Beres having been a freshman student in New York University in 2007, criticizes the college board for encouraging the trend of using the common application in the college application process throughout the US. His main purpose is to persuade the readers, who are clearly the college students, to stop applying for whatever colleges they find and to start searching instead for a limited number of schools that they feel are more interesting for them. The author also encourages the colleges to abandon the common application so that they grant admission to those who really deserve it. Even though Beres showed facts and logical arguments rather than statistics that prove his ideas, one
In the book The Red Badge of Courage, young Henry enters into battle. Henry enlisted because he heard so many great stories from the soldiers camped outside the town where he lived, and he wanted to be a soldier. He had also read of the war with ideas of valor. However, when he gets into battle he has many conflicted feelings.
I’m Melanie Lint from Johnstown, Pennsylvania and I’m writing to you because I am interested in playing softball at Virginia Tech. Not only am I interested in your excellent softball team, I am also interested in your advanced Pre-Veterinary program. While viewing your college page and softball stats, I’ve noticed that one of your pitchers will have graduated by my graduating year, and the other will be a senior. You built the program up so much since you got hired in 1995 and I would love to be part of it.
Andi Wallick Personal Statement Indiana University School of Medicine Degree Objective: M.S. Pathologists’ Assistant My interest in pathology dates back to high school. I enjoyed most sciences but especially sciences about the body. I knew then that I wanted to work in the field of pathology.
I believe I should be accepted into to the University of North Dakota School Of Medicine because of my commitment to practicing primary rural care in the Midwest, my experience working with the underserved populations of my community, and my desire to advance medicine through research. Growing up in a small rural community, I was fortunate to have the same primary care physician. However, recently our town has experienced difficulty in hiring and retaining physicians. My enjoyment of my rural community inspires me to someday become a physician in this type of community. My commitment to serving the underserved population of my community is demonstrated through volunteering for 5 years at a clinic for the uninsured.
A radiologic technician is a medical professional who utilizes specialized imaging equipment on patients. They operate equipment such as X-rays, sound waves, magnetic waves, and additional instruments of diagnostic imagery to create images of human anatomies, such as internal organs, bones, and tissues. This is critical to the medical industry because the scans the technicians acquire diagnose the patient and can be life-saving. I am profoundly interested in hopefully acquiring admission to the Southwest Texas Junior College Radiologic Technology program. I genuinely enjoy the capability to assist and interact with different individuals, which is why I have desired to pursue a career in this healthcare industry.
I’m currently a student at San Joaquin Valley College, working towards becoming a certified medical assistant in which I have proficiency in typing skills and accomplished CPR and HIPAA certification. My passion is the medical field where I can assist the needs and services of others while being able to connect and create a comfortable environment for patients. On an interpersonal level, I excel as a conversationalist to personalize each interaction I encounter. With previous volunteer work for organizations, I’ve come to realize I strive in wanting to make a positive difference in people’s lives and hope to one day be able to do it on a daily basis. Making a difference in people’s lives at times can take the littlest effort and in doing so
When I think about where my undergraduate studies have taken me I am amazed at God's work in my life. Speech pathology was something I never thought of doing. I never had any experience with speech therapy nor had I known anyone who had therapy before. Now, you can barely get me to stop talking about how much I love this field, how important the everyday work of speech pathologists are, and how eager I am to continue my education.
This particular field of sports medicine has many job opportunities. Sports medicine careers offer a wide range of jobs that are placed all over the world. My freshman year I strained my hip flexors causing a visit to my local therapist to get help with recovery. Ever since then, I wanted to go into this field of work, and further my knowledge in this career. My favorite thing in the world is sports so I would love to stay close to athletics.
I want to be a physician because I want people to grow old. At the age of 6, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with leukemia. By age 8, the disease claimed his life, robbing him of the opportunity to experience the privilege of growing old. Unfortunately, we live in a society of vanity. We see the process of aging and choose not to embrace it.
There are two engineering careers that interest me, biomedical or civil engineering. I know they may seem completely different, but due to the fact I take some classes in the engineering field, and some in the medical field, I still have not decided which way to go. A biomedical engineer creates equipment, devices, computer systems, and software used in healthcare, while a civil engineer designs, builds and supervises construction projects such as bridges, buildings, airports, and many more. A biomedical engineer focuses a lot on bringing knowledge to create, design and evaluate biomedical equipment.
I enjoy engineering, in fact when I get older I want to become a biomedical engineer. I want to be able to help people. As well as find solutions to help people in their everyday lives. So that hopefully it would make life easier and less stressful for them. I enjoy all the problem solving that comes with engineering.
Having worked as a neurologist for eight years, my extensive clinical experience has shown me that just possessing strong diagnostic and treatment abilities does not make a great neurologist. I have realized the critical importance of behavior change communication and persuading strategies with my patients and their families. Especially when I shift my scope to the preventive modalities, motivation, trigger, and consistency show their importance in human behavior. I, therefore, aim to obtain the necessary skills to help my patients in a more comprehensive way, and the course Persuasion: The Science and Art of Effective Influence is the ideal place for me to achieve my goals. I possess a wealth of experience in communication, negotiation,
As a dreamer and queer woman of color, pursuing a career in STEM has been quite challenging. But I have never let anything get in the way of reaching my goals and dreams. I have swam against the current in order to be where I am today, where I have dreamt of being. I am currently a second year student at Trinity Washington University majoring in biochemistry and minoring in mathematics. I am a dedicated student and an analytical and skilled critical thinker who is eager to learn.
