Issue In May 1996 Bad Frog put in application for brand label approval and registration pursuant to section 107-a(4)(a) of New York’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, and was denied that application in July (Bad Frog Brewery, Inc. v. New York State Liquor Authority). The issue presented here is whether banning the Bad Frog Brewery, Inc. beer label protecting children from vulgar and profane advertising, and by doing so, is New York State Authority (NYSLA) denying Bad Frog Brewery protection by the First Amendment under Commercial Speech. Rule of Law Commercial speech under Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. v. Public Service Commission, 447 U.S 557, 100 S. Ct. 2343, 65 L. Ed.2d 31 (1980). He started using electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, and organ to achieve different effects. Some of his compositions leaned towards a more modern sound, but he was never able to fully abandon his authentic blues-focused hard bop
(5) So he moved into cool, fusion and modal jazz. (7) In 1959 Miles Davis released the album “Kind of Blue” which was created under the style of modal jazz. (11) Revolving around using musical modes and staying on fitting chords for most of the song, modal jazz was exceptionally different to bebop and other jazz styles that came before it. It holds striking contrast to the fast chords and continual scale changes that can be heard in bebop.
The term “cool jazz” could describe the style or genre that Stan Getz, Chet Baker, and Miles Davis played, but it should not categorize them as musicians because their talents and versatility extend farther than just a style or genre. Stan Getz became a popular tenor saxophonist during the bop era in the 1940s. Stan Getz is a talented tenor saxophonist whose style became categorized as cool jazz. Chet Baker is considered one of the best “cool jazz” trumpeters besides Miles Davis, but did not receive exposure until the early 1950s with the Gerry Mulligan Quartet. Chet Baker is considered to be a “West Coast Style” player that produces melodic ideas, a tuneful quality, and has a style that can be categorized as cool jazz.
Robert Leroy Johnson was the most influential and the most significant singer of the Delta Blues during 1920s. Johnson was regarded as the master of the blues because he totally influenced many rock musicians. Eric Clapton, a well-known rock and blues guitarist, has even called Johnson "the most important blues singer that ever lived.” Unfortunately, Robert Johnson, the legendary blues musician, passed away at his age 27. His obscurely documented life led him to a legend which really made a great affect on modern music genres and musicians
During his time there he collaborated with Charlie Parker and other musicians with whom he helped form the basis of bebop (“Miles Davis”). Davis eventually left Julliard to explore his own voice and came across a composer named Gil Evans and they began to exchange ideas. They were looking for something other than swing and bebop and formed a style called “cool jazz” (Kirker, Tim). This new style was evident in his album Birth of the Cool which was performed with a nine-piece band that included artists such as Max Roach, John Lewis, Lee Konitz, and Gerry Mulligan (Macnie, Jim).
The music of Amy Winehouse I’ve been listening to are her most popular ones from her album Frank ‘’Stronger than me’’ and her second album Back to black with her number one hit ‘’Rehab’’ as they are personally my favourite. While listening to both of these songs you can clearly tell her songs are very much influenced by jazz. Jazz is all about improvising. It takes a lot of skill to be able to perform unwritten lyrics to an audience and have your band respond to you. Jazz also consists of syncopation.
Bloomingdales is a company that can be benefit from a curated collection. Bloomingdales is a higher end Department Store in the same nature as Nordstrom and similar to Macy’s. Bloomingdales is behind in their marketing strategies especially in comparison with Nordstrom. On the other hand, Nasty Gal is a modern company which started out being purely an online source and has since then opened physical stores. Nasty Gal is only available in a few cities which is why it would benefit from being sold at a store like Bloomingdales.
Blood Sweat & Tears and Chicago were both very influential for the success of jazz rock. Blood Sweat & Tears were the first to find success as they fused jazz harmonies into a pop-rock song that created a new audience for jazz rock style. In the other hand Chicago built on the popularity of Blood Sweat & Tears and continued the experimentation of sounds by integrating synthesizers and Latin fundamentals into the jazz rock fusion. Chicago did not have the instant success that Blood Sweat & Tears would see, however they were more experimental with their sound, as Chicago started getting noticed with each new album, which got them success and fame. In my experience I have never heard of Blood Sweat & Tears, but I have heard Chicago’s music as
Miles Davis arrived on the New York jazz scene in 1944 around the same time that a jazz revolution was beginning. The style bop or bebop was a direct attack against big bands, racial in equality, and restrictive sound of the current style of jazz of the time. Davis contributed a major role in the revolution not as a founding father but as a large portion of the change itself working with people such as Charlie Parker and Cannon Ball Coleman. He learned the intricate language of bebop by imitation, by playing with others who had experience in the style and learned from them. His work with Parker quintet augmented his skills that consisted of melodic lines and rhythms which he played at immense speeds.
By analyzing Claudius, in my opinion, he is a person who considers himself very Christian. However, his choices go against his Christianity and he tried to hide that. He doesn’t react when Gertrude drinks because he probably wants to pretend like he didn’t know the poison was in there or it could have also been a way to keep the crown without the need of depending on her. He tells the queen “Gertrude do not drink” which prove my point that he got conscience
The Santa Fe Evening of Jazz was a great concert featuring the Rhythm and Blues, Jazz Combo, and Big Band from Santa Fe College with special guest Professor Scott Wilson from the University of Florida Jazz Studies. This Evening of Jazz was the ninth one to be held and was superbly done; getting a ticket was quick and simple, finding a seat was as easy, and leaving was not hard. The whole performance was led by Doctor Steven Lee Bingham who also played with all the bands on the alto saxophone along with giving information about each band, song, scholarship players, and on Mr. Wilson and his unique instrument called a E.V.I.. The audience had a pleasant feel, everyone was talking and laughing before and after the performance, they also were
Kitsch is typically seen as bad art or for those who like it to have bad taste, but it’s something I disagree with. Kitsch is something I grew up around. Kitsch tends to apply to one’s sweeter side; make you feel sentimental just as the article states it, “relies on codes and clichés that convert the higher emotions.” My mother’s home would not be home if it wasn’t for kitsch paintings or knick-knacks. She buys these things because they make her feel happy, and it the process makes the house seem warmer.
Jazz Fusion is a style of Music that originated in the late 1960s' and became prominent in the 1970s'. It is the blending of Jazz and Rock Music to create a style of music which contained not only the intricate melodies and refined improvisation that lay in jazz but combined it with the power, instrumentation and rhythm of Rock music. It was not exclusively a mix between Rock and Jazz tho but also combined elements such as also Funk and RnB. This created a Genre of music that Jazz Critics generally hated but Rock Critics Loved. In the 1960s Rock music was becoming more popular and Jazz music was on the decline, this was one of the reasons why Jazz musicians started experimenting with their music, however a lot of Jazz musicians were just simply influenced by rock and wanted to incorporate it into their own music.
