As a sayings goes, the book is better than the movie. Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya is a story based on a young boy becoming aware of his internal conflicts. In the filmthere were particular things that were different from the book like the dialogue and events; however, the similarities between the story and film were the fact that it followed all the death events that surrounded Antonio.
In the film, most of the actors were not communicating as much as they should, and some of them actually leave out the importance of the dialogue. Dialogue in the book gives a brief description on who, what, where, when, and why for the reader may get a bit of the summary on Bless Me, Ultima; in addition, the reader might grasp the concept on what the author is trying to achieve. “You fish a lot? I asked. I have always been a fisher man, he answered….you fish, he said. Yes. I learned to fish with my brothers when I was very little. Then they went to war and I couldn’t fish anymore. Then Ultima came—I paused.” (Anaya) On page 78, both Antonio and Samuel start a conversation between each other, but during the process, both of them start to share a common interest, and share a bit of a background. Thus, Samuel has some relation with Antonio so it gives Samuel a purpose or importance in Bless Me, Ultima for being another great friend towards Antonio. “ꜟAy Diosꜝ for the sake of your mother please come!
