Furthermore, the division of the Federalist Party was he one of many things that would lead to the downfall of Alexander Hamilton. With the fall of the Federalist Party rose the dawn of the Republican Party. Eventually, Thomas Jefferson became President with Aaron Burr as his Vice President, however they soon stopped seeing eye to eye and Burr knew his days in the white house were numbered (Trees, Andrew S). Meanwhile, Hamilton returned home where tragedy hit him yet again. In 1801, his eldest son Philip of 19, named after his grandfather, had been shot and killed in a duel defending his father’s honor (Trees, Andrew S), also depicted in the play in the songs Blow Us All Away, and the Stay Alive Reprise.
