Chapter 2 of True Worshipers by Bob Kauflin starts with Bob talking about an experience a friend had about not being able to receive the kindness of a college buddy he kept in contact with. He talks about two aspects of receiving the gift of worship and the first was being enabled by God, and the second is God needing to reveal himself to us. He tells us that in our own efforts to bring glory to God they will end in failure, we need to be willing to receive the gift of worship. Worshiping is a response of what we received in Christ which is eternal life. He tells us that the desire and ability to worship God comes from God. In chapter 3 Bob talks about his experience in church plating and how God stretched him in showing him that he was worshiping in the wrong direction, idolatry.
