Out of the twenty-seven amendments to the Constitution of the United States I argue that the 1st Amendment is the most important. This amendment allows people to practice any religion freely, without persecution. There are “… approximately 313 religions and denominations in the United States” ("All Religions and Denominations…) according to ProCon.org. One of the main reasons people come to the United States is because of religious tyranny but being the land of the free people can practice any religion without getting kicked out. Also, religious freedom lets us behold the amazing differences of religions and see how people worship their God or Gods. Today, there are so many horrible things going on, such as: abuse of any kind, sexual harassment, unjust laws, etc. This amendment allows people to speak on these such issues freely and share their opinion and beliefs, so people and the government can listen and hopefully alleviate some of these situations. Also, it allows people to denounce the government. The government does not always become aware of how they handle things are unjust. For example, the deportation of immigrants who were brought by their parents at a young age and have been in the United States for many years. Many people can speak about how they feel about this situation, especially since they are deporting people to their “home country” they know nothing about. Freedom of Assembly allows people to peacefully to participate in gatherings, public or private. Which allows us to protest calmly about things going on in our society. Some protests that recently happened or still are: Times Up Movement, Women’s March, more minorities represented in television, LGBT community and so much more. Additionally, it allows us to share our opinions with people and government. This amendment lets us have our voices heard and making sure the government hears us loud and clear of what we want changed. The 1st amendment is truly a way for everyone to express themselves anyway they want
