Nathania Tilahun Ms Lesniak Language February 22 2023 Week 3 Reading Journal:Bud, Not Buddy Introduction: I am reading this book called Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis from chapter 9 to 11. Bud finds himself in the company of a jazz band called the Dusky Devastators of the Depression, led by Herman E. Calloway, who he believes is his father. The band initially does not believe him, but he eventually convinces them that he is related to Calloway by showing them a flyer with Calloway's picture and the name of his band. Bud is welcomed into the band and enjoys their music and company.
A delicious smell wafted from the kitchen of the little house on Dauphin Island as I stepped inside the door. My friends Sarah and Selena Sweeney were already crowding their mom against the stove, plates pushed out in front of them like a medal they were showing off. “Enfrijoladas!” they exclaimed, fighting for the first of several of the strange-looking blobs folded onto their outstretched plates. I timidly tasted a bite of the blobs, and I soon was devouring my fourth plate of the Enfrijoladas right next to them.
Throughout the movie it is discovered that Neil really wants to act. Neil loves to act, but his father and mother don't think it is the best for him. They Deter him at every turn so that he cannot become an actor. As the movie progresses, Neil gets the lead role at a play in town. He doesn't tell his father because he knows he will never allow it.

Most people that have read the book have said that the children did not reveal their names because it would make it real, that they were dealing with an actual person. Another reason that anoymity is a big part of this story is when Wendy reveled Aaron’s name. Wendy said “I think their almost here. Aaron said his dad is almost here”. When this happened Wendy was impeldite sorry.
The story 19 Minutes is an emotional rollercoaster ride from the perspective of multiple families. families that fight together through the loss of their children and loved ones from a tragic school shooting. In the story 19 Minutes the reader can find examples of bullying, depression, and suicide. The story starts with the reader believing that Peter started shooting up the school just because he was crazy.
When we are scared, things rush through our mind. What am I going to do? What am I doing? Should I kill him? Should I wait for him to make a move?
As I sit here in the darkness, I feel the cold harsh winter winds and hear the howling of wolves in the distance. My body aches, I am battered and bruised. The Iroquois attacked our village yesterday. They are a savage bunch with the brute strength of heathens. There was so much blood shed, so much pain and violence.
That was too simple a name, one that meant nothing to the giver, recipient, or anyone who heard it. We needed something meaningful, and soon, maybe something from Greek mythology? Was there a turtle god? A savior of the reptiles? Not that we could think of, but how about other cultures?
The Man named Jack tried scavenging for the baby, the baby with no name. Neil Gaiman did not tell the readers Bod’s real name is because it makes the story very mysterious and more loving. When the family was gruesomely murdered by Jack he had the perfect chance to tell the name of the toddler, but instead he wanted to make it mysterious and suspicious so he decided not to. It also makes the story more heart-felt. Since the name was unknown, Neil Gaiman made the ghost parents, the Owens name him instead.
He comes from a very wealthy family. Neil’s dad wants Neil to become a doctor. Neil has different plans; he loves to act and what to be an actor. Neil’s dad is overbearing and tells Neil he will have nothing to do with acting. This back and forth disagreement makes Neil’s commit suicide.
The morning bell rang on a Monday morning in a private highschool found in suburban America. The last person racing in the door was Erwin Totschmeid. He spent the previous night hunched over his keyboard playing an MMO that had recently updated with a new raid. It was Erwin 's first attempt at the raid and to put it simply it didn 't go great. After several hours of bashing thier heads against a seemingly unbeatable second phase, the raid party decided it would be best to temporarily retreat and attempt to gain levels.
