Bomboloni Boss is an Italian family-owned local business based in Montreal that was first opened in the summer of 2021. This business quickly became a local sensation during the pandemic where it served and continues to serve its customers with a variety of Italian style fluffy donuts consisting of a rich filling in each. The chef who is behind these heavenly delights, Chef Nando, states on his website that his bombolones are delicacies that are famous for bringing joy to any gathering which was much needed during a time of isolation and discouragement faced during the pandemic. During a time of separation, this small business allowed me to at least spend some quality time virtually with my family members. It is surprising to see how this business has grown over the past year. A SWOT analysis of this business revealed one of their strengths: their online presence on social media. Bomboloni Boss on Instagram alone has more than 19K followers and on TikTok has almost 700 followers; With such mass supporters, this Italian business is increasing brand awareness and gaining credibility as their audience continue to grow. Furthermore, another strength is that they use loyalty cards which helps the business retain their regular customers by offering them 4 free bombolones after 12 purchases. Moreover, they are also affiliated with delivery services such as SkipTheDishes and UberEats which facilitates customers who can’t make the trip to one of their locations. On the other hand, the business also has certain weaknesses such as the prices of the bombolones. This small business started off with an Instagram page where customers were able to place their orders and have the bombolones delivered to them, whereas today their Instagram page has grown tremendously which can be seen by their massive number of followers. Their online presence especially on social media indicates that their audience are the younger generation, GenZ who constantly share, like, comment and post on social media. In addition, on this small business’ website, it is stated “Let us know which one is your favourite by posting and tagging us on your socials!” (The Bomboloni Boss, n.d.). By doing so, this allows the opportunity to increase potential customers not only through their official Instagram page but also from their customer’s social media.
