For many in those times, this image was a reality. The book Written in Bone by Sally Walker takes the reader through the scientific, historic, and literary aspects of the daily life of the inhabitants of Jamestown and Chesapeake Bay. The novel uncovers the lives of the settlers in colonial Maryland by exploring ancient ruins and cemeteries and analyzing them in hopes to find an insight into the past.
Bone Chiller is a book written by Graham Mcnamee. This book was a horror filled science fiction. The book wasn’t scary to the extent where I was terrified of not reading anymore, but it was scary to the point where I wanted to read more. I wanted to know what was going to happen to Danny and his friends. At the outset, I thought at least one of the characters was going to die.

Salvage The Bones(2011) written by Jesmyn Ward details a Family from a Mississippi Gulf town, Boi Sauvage, going through 12 days leading up to and facing hurricane Katrina. Esch, the protagonist, is infatuated with Manny who wants nothing to do with her, even if she is carrying his baby. After telling Manny of the baby in her womb she faces rejection from the man she desires most. This passage explores Eschs reaction to rejection and foreshadows her eventual acceptance of the journey of motherhood without the father and man she loves, Manny. Through repetition, diction, and point of view Ward creates a scene of anger and disgust towards Manny that contrasts with the earlier time of infatuation and deep desire for Manny's love and attention.

Mud, who had recently earned her cow name, She-Spurns, finds that she has visionary powers, which grant her the ability to occasionally see glimpses of the near future. Soon after this discovery, she receives a vision of another elephant herd; “All the faces are hacked off, the trunks tossed aside, the tusks gone and some of the feet as well… So these are the She-D’s. Zach 's dad refers to it as "West of Nowhere, Pennsylvania, claiming it bordered Better off Forgotten, West Virginia, and Already Forgotten, Ohio" (Page 5-11). While certain pop culture references mark the story as vaguely contemporary, we don 't know precisely when it 's taking place. What stands out most about the setting is how economically depressed it is. Zach recalls his grandparents ' stories of "how the big Victorian houses—the ones built by some famous architect, the ones that were in the center of town—used to be owned by single families and not divided into run-down apartments" (Page 149-156).
The Farming of Bones, a book filled with wounded and disabled individuals, includes lots of descriptions of body marks and physical injuries. The characters, especially the narrator Amabelle, present a complex perspective on the different meaning of injuries and the relationship between physical disability and mental trauma. Injuries were unavoidable for the Haitian workers. Because they were the “burnt crud at the bottom of the pot”, they suffered from their low social status and the cane life, “travay te pou zo”, the farming of bones. In the first memory of Amabelle, Sebastien was described as face being “ripped apart” (1) by the cane stalks, “leaving him with crisscrossed trails of furrowed scars” (1).
I think that the everyday issues that many young people deal within the society today were the essential statement that Russell Bank was affirming in his literature the Rule of the Bone. Reader can get what Banks is saying about respect, and agree with his idea that most families have forgotten to take care of the young children. Bank’s message was clear, as he exposed the unrealized misery and society 's failure to save its young children. Body modification is the act of altering one’s body for several different reasons such as aesthetic pleasures, self and identity expression as well as religious beliefs and even significant changes in one’s life such as rites of passage or affiliation1. The act of body modification has been around for centuries, some can be traced back to the Predynastic period in Egypt. The concept of body modification is quite an umbrella terms, under are hidden a number of different categories such as scarification, implants, tongue splitting, branding and even, common as it may seem, tattoos and piercings etc1. For the purpose of this paper, we will ignore several of these categories, only focusing on tattoos. The history and most importantly reason hidden behind a tattoo is just as interesting and complex as the design of the tattoo itself.
