Boo Radley Vs. Community Boo Radley is a strange character in To Kill a Mockingbird, lots of people wonder why Boo Radley makes the decisions he makes in the book. The novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has lots of different topics such as racism, maturing, and sexism. This novel is based on the author's real-life experiences. This book has many emotional and sensitive topics that all exist in the real world today. The book is set in the 1930s. The main characters in To Kill a Mockingbird are Scout, Jem, Atticus, and the Radleys. During one summer Scout is playing with her brother Jem and her friend Dill. They all go to the Radley house and try to look inside. Jem is trying to look through the window but a man comes up next to him. This is Nathan Radley. Nathan Radley is Boo’s older brother. Scout, Jem, and Dill are running away while a gunshot is fired from the Radley house. Some summers go by and the kids decide not to try and reach out to Boo, but then something happens to Jem and Scout that causes Boo to have to save them.
