Sam Rizzuto Ms. Maple Junior Theology Block G 18 May 2017 Outline Apocalypse of Zephaniah There is a possibility that not a lot of works were attributed to him because he was not a central figure in the olden times. All parts in the Apocalypse of Zephaniah are “visionary reporting[s] of cosmic journeys.” His works were calling for repentance which provides detailed imagery of “angels, judgement, and” the study of humans and their customs and beliefs. The Book of Zephaniah Zephaniah was not a well known prophet. In the beginning of his book, he confronted Jerusalem about judgement which happened as Josiah was reigning the kingdom of Judah ((640-609 BCE). The title of Zephaniah’s prophecy represents what will come from destruction and death of divine judgement. The Day of Judgement is described as a period of time full of “darkness, of anguish and distress, of [devastation] and plunder of cities,” and the harming of all life -- both humans and animals. Zephaniah believes the causes of this day are because of “Judah’s worship of other [gods] and [the harsh, as well as corrupt] leadership.” My verses In Zeph 2:3, he is telling all of Jerusalem to go out and search for the Lord. Try to make peace with people and obey the rules, and possibly on the day of the Lord’s anger, He will save them and not harm them. This is at the ending of the Day of the Lord. This was Zephaniah’s prophecy of Judgement In Zeph 3:12-13, it is after the nation’s are punished and when Jerusalem is being restored.
