The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. He is widely known for his stories about America’s “Jazz Age” in the 1920s. In this particular story of his, the main setting of the story is in East Egg, West Egg, and New York. East Egg and West egg are both neighborhoods where lavish people live. The main characters are situated in these areas. The main characters of the story are Jay Gatsby, Nick Carraway, Daisy Buchanan, and Tom Buchanan. Myrtle and George are married to each other. Jordan Baker is a close friend of Daisy. The plot starts with Nick going on a trip to East Egg to visit Daisy and her family. Upon arriving to their mansion, he meets Jordan Baker. While they are having their afternoon tea, Jordan tells Nick about the affair Tom is having with Myrtle Wilson. Myrtle’s husband, George, does not know anything about the affair. However, Daisy notices something suspicious about them. Soon, Nick goes to Gatsby’s party for the first time. Gatsby introduces himself as someone who studied in Oxford, and came from a wealthy family.
