SUMMARY Primary Goal (What is the desired outcome?)
Dr. Crabb shares the main goal of his book is to serve the believer to first strengthen his personal relationship with Christ. The goal for any Christian counsel should be to help their client to climb the tree to a high level of Christian maturity. Furthermore, Dr. Crabb uses a scripture in (Hebrews 13:15 NIV) that we are told that the missionary post of all priests is a twofold purpose (Crabb, pg. 23). The first purpose expressed by Dr. Crabb is that priests should offer a sacrifice of worship to God. Priests must worship God to show love and affection in their relationship with God. Inwards (2 Cor: 5:14, NIV) Apostle Paul places his goals in the correct prospective that all leaders in the kingdom of God need to encourage believers to get along. Apostle Paul asks God first how do I please you versus looking at him first wondering how Apostle Paul could be placed and asking God to realize later.ostle Paul take the next step by checking with his fellow man to make sure that he looks too serve then before servicing himself to assure that God is pleased by his actions (Crabb, pg. 26). Another goal of counselor’s is to assist clients to realize their self-worth by helping them find out who they are in God (Crabb, pg.71). A person is seeking assistance with finding acceptance, and security in their lives, along with finding agape love in for all of the guilt that works on the mind of the saints (Crabb, pg. 72). By going on to reinforce Christian values and trust in God, counselors should have a primary focus on helping clients to a grade of maturity in their walk with God. Crabb’s approaches are both integrated and biblical. He believes in administering the two approaches as long as they do not conflict with scripture. However, Dr. Crabb refers to the Bible as the guide for all counseling theories.

The Dr. Larry Crabb book “Effective Biblical Counseling” is a great work for the Christian community. He explores four different approaches to integrate the Bible and counseling strategies to bring believers closer to God. Dr. Crabb has ordained the local church as a ground to have God’s people ministered to through scripture. The church must assure that all leaders are trained to a certain degree in the area of counseling. Leaders can give of themselves in parliamentary procedure to serve others, to get through difficult times and turn into mature Christians. Give a brief example of how this author’s book might impact a counseling moment.
