Middlebury and Bowdoin College Comparison Although very similar in their liberal arts distinction and academic rigor, Bowdoin College and Middlebury College have many nuances that set them apart from each other. Family has always been incredibly important to me. With this said, I have never wanted to move far away from my family to go to college. First, so I always have someone close if I ever get homesick; second, so I can see my family more than once a year. Middlebury College is located in Middlebury, Vermont about an hour south of Burlington. Bowdoin college is located in Brunswick, Maine about thirty minutes north of Portland. My sister currently goes to school in Vermont and my family plans to move to coastal Maine in the near future. My Dad’s side of the family also all lives in Maine. Attending either school will place me geographically close to at least some family which is a major plus of both colleges.
The size of the school is very important to me. I am looking for a small school where I can have close relationships with my classmates and professors. I would classify my family as middle class so money is definitely an issue when thinking about college. I have a decent amount of money in the bank saved up for college from my grandparents. My parents and grandparents will contribute by helping pay for my college, and I will be working a job while in college. The price of tuition is a huge deal! Because I am planning on going to a private university, I’m prepared to pay more money for the education. Middlebury College’s tuition is $47,418, while Bowdoin College’s tuition is $47,744. Both of the colleges are almost identical in price. I will still definitely have to take out loans by attending either
