n 2018, a copyright lawsuit was filed against Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, and his team for allegedly copying the hit song "This Is America" from a track titled "Made in America" by rapper Kidd Wes. The case raised questions about the extent of protection for original works of art, the importance of attribution, and the value of fair use. The controversy began when Kidd Wes accused Donald Glover and his collaborators of stealing the melody, rhythm, and lyrics of "Made in America" for their Grammy-winning single "This Is America."

In 1993, twenty three states and the federal government adopted some form of the three strike law intending to target repeat offenders. The State of Washington was the first to do so; the State of California soon followed with a considerably broader version of the law. Even though, adopted versions of the three strike law vary among the states, the laws generally reduced judicial discretion by mandating severe prison sentences for third (in some instances first and second) felony convictions. 1993 was unquestionably the peak of public concern about crime and the peak of the political response to that concern, resulting in what was a unique punitive period in American history. America’s incarceration rate increase more during the 1990s than

There are many moments in Canada’s history that served to define the country. Some of these moments include Confederation in 1867, the discovery of insulin by Dr. Frederick Banting and his assistant Charles Best, the implementation of free health Care, the Canadian and Soviets hockey series in which Canada won, and many more. But, as argued in this paper, is the Canada Act in 1982. (It is important to keep in mind the Constitution Act, 1982 was annexed as a part of the Canada Act and may be referred to in this paper.) The Canada Act served to give Canada, and its populace, the greatest amount of independence and freedom that it has ever experienced, politically, culturally, and legally.
When the amendments came into force on 1 January 2011, the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth) changed its name to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), and the new Australian Consumer Law came into existence. Copyright may apply to a wide range of creative, intellectual, or artistic forms, or “works” (Source 2 and 3) Copyright does not cover ideas and information themselves, only the form or manner in which they are expressed (Source 4). A copyright protects the form of expression of a creator against copying. Literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works are included within the protection of U.S. copyright law. The USPTO does not register copyrights, the copyright office does.
This act states that no one can be discriminated against because of a disability in most circumstances. Students are not allowed to be excluded from schools because of a disability of any kind. I was not surprised to find that every person I interviewed had watched a pirated movie at some point. It has become so common over the past decade that I was expecting everyone to have done it at least once. The main takeaway I got from completing this project is that people are uneducated on film piracy. The results I got from both the non-film and the film majors were similar, and it seemed that being a film major had no impact on how the students viewed film piracy. Even though I was unaware of the issues surrounding it as a film major myself, I thought others might have a different perspective.

Harry Potter’s world is fascinating and different from the muggle world, but upon further analysis, shares similarities that are not all that surprising. While this world amazes the reader, as the story progresses the Ministry of Magic becomes a government that seemingly fails to protect its citizens. A society that has no government outside of bureaucracy, virtually no free press, and no public elections. In her book, The Politics of Harry Potter, Bethany Barratt states that a legal system needs four attributes to be considered effective: A clearly defined system of laws, reliable ways of determining how and when someone has broken a law, proper means of adjudication for the accused, and a punitive or fair system of consequences for those
