A brief explanation of PTSD

PTSD is a complicated disorder that affects the brain, mind and body. PTSD is a strong anxiety disorder that occurs after a traumatic event. Depending on the severity of the event, it can be mild to severe. There are a bunch of different types of PTSD and a bunch of ways to develop PTSD. Not all PTSD is from war experiences like everyone tends to believe. While a big cause of PTSD is from war it can also be from experiencing traumas like living with an unstable family, bullying, kidnapping, sex-trafficking, sexual assault, being in a car crash, serving in the military, loss of a family member, any near-death experience, or really any type of abuse. Of course there's multiple more but those tend to be the main ones, but all are valid. PTSD also can cause memory issues. Our brain is so diverse and smart in ways it's hard to acknowledge. The difference between CPTSD and PTSD is that PTSD usually occurs after one traumatic event, but CPTSD is associated with repeated trauma or multiple traumas. While both are similar and their struggles are valid, CPTSD tends to be more intense. It’s more than your brain functions getting messed up, but learned behaviors. Most CTPSD survivors are used to abuse. CTPSD is also more likely to cause a personality disorder such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), the most common personality disorder. BPD acts similar to CPTSD or PTSD considering it's also an organic disorder. BPD is caused from prolonged emotional distress as a child. It's learned responses from typically childhood abuse and impacts the way you think and feel about yourself and others, causing issues functioning in everyday life.
