Summary In Brilliant but Bored, Adams (2015) developed her own research, explaining that six to ten students are known to be gifted students in the schools today. In the author’s writing, Adams (2015) stated her opinion on how teachers are needing to enhance their training in order to accommodate this growing amount of students in schools. Gifted students’ work can be seen as more laborious in preparation for the teachers. A high level classroom must be seen as a unity, evaluated frequently, and engage parents in order to have the best benefits for children. Overall, Adam (2015) declares, from research and experiences, that the students have the ability to take control of their education and further their knowledge if these five methods are utilized in the classroom.
Critique The author of this article had a message to get across with a clear and sophisticated presentation. The information presented was organized in a way to catch the eye of the reader to keep them engaged and ready to read. Adams (2015) keep the topic straight to the point without giving too much “fluff” like some of the other scholarly articles. I can agree with the information presented by Adams (2015). When the author explains “that gifted student’s brains… think in more sophisticated, abstract ways” (p 46), it it fully explained when children are questioned on a topic, they actually have a meaning in the classroom. This is how one can create that special place for the gifted student in the classroom. The simple and innovative thoughts that the author uses in this article is full of information all teachers should read for their classrooms.
