Michael Paulson, a well-known American journalist recently wrote a piece for the New York Times in September of 2015 called “This Broadway Season, Diversity Is Front and Center”. This piece focuses on the uprising of people from different races being introduced and playing roles in Broadway shows. Paulson asserts this positive statement by providing the reader with many examples of upcoming/present diverse Broadway shows and explaining how the audience can connect with these cultural stories. Paulson also establishes a friendly and highly proud tone when informing his readers that the lack of diversity on Broadway is overcoming; reassuring that indeed times are changing.

Give My Regards to Broadway Music brings culture to everyday life, it can be found anywhere at anytime. Music doesn’t have to actually be playing for people to hear it. The rhythm of the city is music in itself, everybody has their own unique sound and way to add into the beat of the city. Music expands in many different ways such as country music, which has it’s own unique sound. Country music can be slow with a love story, fast with a break up story to it, or it could be a moderate speed about a big purple dinosaur.
The scenery of the play performed in the Globe varied greatly from the scenery showcased in the Hollywood version of the play. The scenery for the play performed at the Globe was bare bones, and there was not very much that the director could do scenery wise because the play was confined to a single stage. During the wedding scene of the play the stage was decorated in flowers to make the wedding feel elegant, causing the wedding scene to stand out compared to the other scenes. In the movie version of the play their wasn't a limit to where it could be performed unlike the play, and it was able to be performed in an actual forest instead of just in a stage. The majority of musicals that receive positive feedback in the Broadway industry are so popular because of their ability to relate and appeal to their audiences. I can attest to the popularity from my own experiences with and in musicals. For example, Dear Evan Hansen is a musical that is rapidly growing to be known to the public as one of the best musicals of all time. It is based off of a true story about the modern day trials and tribulations of high school life. A normal high school student Evan suffers from social anxiety and lacks motivation to make any emotional connections with anyone.
Throughout middle school and my first 2 years in high school, I’ve gotten mainly As in my classes with an occasional B here and there. So in my junior year of high school, when I heard that I can take more than 1 AP course, I immediately wanted to challenge myself. I registered for 4 AP courses along with orchestra, and spanish on top of my extracurriculars. “Are you trying to kill yourself?” is what all my friends asked when I told them about my plan.

Cheerleaders tumble and perform stunts to entertain the fans and attract attention during half times and time outs. Yet many question if the activity is truly a sport?
Theatre is the heart and soul of one of the best cities in the world, London. I think theatre plays a huge role in the culture of this city for it has been around for many centuries dating back to the Renaissance period. Theatre helps us to understand more about our history and previous famous playwrights such as Shakespeare. Part of what makes London theatre so unique is because it has the Globe Theatre that has been around for 400 years. This was the exact theatre that Shakespeare performed his plays at in 1599.
… Theatre promotes inclusion The inclusion for artists with disability in theatre shows equality between artists with and without disability. Drama can give people with disabilities a social life as through drama activities they have the opportunity to make new friends and make social interactions. An ex-drama student says that being included in theatre as a child gave her a safe place away from bullying at school.
Imagine you are an actor arriving at an audition. You enter a waiting room and see all these people who talk like you, look like you, and are auditioning for the same part as you. Would you still have what it takes to show someone how you are different? Theatre has been apart of education in schools since 1965. It has helped guide people and it has given the world great entertainers.
Most people never would consider Centre, Alabama, a small sleepy Southern town with a laid back atmosphere that could put an incurable insomniac to sleep, home to a thriving community theatre. Theatre Centre provides entertainment, wonder, dread, and happiness for all who witness it. I have loved and adored the theatre ever since I was a small child, performing in every play I could. Standing on stage fills me with a sense of pride and happiness that can be found nowhere else in the world. I love theatre, and even though the theatre I love more than any other thrives in a small town in Alabama, I still have a wonderful experience every time I go.
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women are merely players,” (Shakespeare), meaning the whole world is like a stage show and humans are the actors. The quote proves that life can imitate art even when it’s not recognized, art is everywhere you look, in places you never thought to look. Theater is represented in any imaginable way, so why is it not good enough for a simple required subject in school? Fine arts such as drama, dance, and art programs get cut from high schools due to the expenses that go into them. People say theater is not needed for the future, no help in the “real world”, and it’s not a life skill.
