What did you learn about diversity from your research as well as from those you worked in the past on similar projects? Give specific examples. My participation in the “Remove Judge Aaron Persky from the Bench For Decision in Brock Turner rape case” petition has influenced my attitudes and beliefs towards this matter in both good and bad ways. I still believe that no matter race, sex, or success of the defendant, a sexual assault is a crime and should be treated as such. From example, since we have been reading and learning about different types of laws in this course I connected it to the “Remove Judge Aaron Persky from the Bench For Decision in Brock Turner rape case” petition and researched the types of laws that dealt with the issues of the petition, sexual assault. In my research I conclude that there are different types of laws on sex crimes in each state but the minim punishment is a prison term which opposed the very suspicious sentencing of Brock Turner of 6 months in county jail but released at 3 months on good behavior. My participation in this petition has changed the way I feel about the certain issue of the punishment of sexual assault. Before participating in this petition I never truly knew the issues on sexual assault, so with my little knowledge on the issue I never bothered with the unlawful punishment on the Brock Turner sexual assault case.
