A few years later, programmers decide to share a new idea that became the most efficient and expensive way to play games, the arcade. The nature of the video games was to spark the competition among players, who could record their high scores with their initials and are determined to mark their space at the top of the list for the world to see(techcrunch.com, 2015). By the time that Pong came to the arcade stores, people would normally verse against a computer program for a challenging battle. But finally people would get the chance to go against friends and family members(Museum of play.org,2016). Back then people could only play in the arcades that costed money for them to play. When they invented the home gaming system called the The Atari 2600, it was a game system that allowed people to play games on their television(Museum of play.org,2016). It gave people the chance to against other people while in the comfort of their own home. For twenty years, people have developed more and more systems for people to against each other and have made great games that the people have enjoyed playing(Museum of play.org,2016). But playing in the arcade and the gaming system on the tv were the only ways to plays games against other people. The first example of players competing on separate screens came in 1973 with “Empire” — a strategic turn-based game for up to eight players that was created for the system called PLATO- Programmed Logic for Automatic Teaching Operation(techcrunch.com,2015). However, around the year 2000 is when more gaming systems and computer games started to get more interactively with other players(Museum of play.org,2016). In 2001, Microsoft created a new gaming system, “The Xbox” that not only allowed people to play with other people, it gave people a chance to play against players that were on the other side of the planet(Museum of play.org,2016).
