Brown v. Board of Education: A Case to Overturn the Segregation The discrimination among different races can be regarded as one of the most serious issues lasting for many years. The pass of several amendments, especially the 13th Amendment and the 14th Amendment, did not completely deal with the racism, which just played a little role on alleviating the inequality toward African Americans. The case Brown v. Board of Education occurred in 1954 served as the key to overturn the segregation among white people and African Americans, so it was considered as a landmark case in the Supreme Court. After the decision of Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896, the racial segregation became one of the most apparent features for racism. Board of Education did actually confirm the inequalities between black people and white people on public education, but it did not clearly propose the laws or rules to enforce integrated schools in order to achieve the desegregation. Nevertheless, the case Brown v. Board of Education produced a far-fetching influence. A big number of movements to revolt against the segregation occurred among citizens, which were majorly triggered by this case. For example, a black woman named Rosa Parks was arrested because she refused to give her seat to a white man in a bus in order to protect the equal rights for black people. Her arrest appealed others' emotion, which furthermore fueled the movement to overturn these discriminatory laws throughout the South. In the following years, several acts, such as Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965, were implemented to promote the process of desegregation. In a word, the case Brown v.
