Antony uses rhetorical appeals and techniques in his speech to turn the people of Rome against those conspiring against Caesar. At the funeral, both of Caesar’s friends, Brutus and Antony, made a speech. In Brutus’s speech he was very concise and was saying that he did it all for Rome. Brutus used logos and ethos in his speech. To fortify his speech, he used logos which is logic and reason. In his speech, he says listen to my reasons and he goes onto his reasons that Caesar would have become ambitious and enslaved them all.
Rhetoric in the Speeches of Brutus and Antony The death of Caesar is a controversial topic and was even more controversial at the time of his funeral when when senators were trying to benefit from his death by getting the Roman citizens on their side. At Caesar’s funeral, two senators gave speeches as an attempt to get the roman people on their side. Out of the two speeches, Marc Antony’s speech was more effective because of his use of appeals and biases, being 100% true and had a larger variety of rhetorical devices.
At Caesar's funeral Brutus gained the support of the people but Antony’s speech was far more moving. In Antony’s speech he used rhetorical questions, and repetition to support his argument. While Brutus was trying to convince to everyone that what he did was the right thing to do, Antony is explaining why it was unnecessary to murder Caesar. He repeated the rhetorical question Was This Ambition. He cited all of the good things that Caesar did.
In Antony’s speech to the people, he speaks about Caesar over his dead body. His words make the commoners feel something, as opposed to Brutus,

While using rhetorical strategies such as logos, pathos, and ethos. Along with Antony’s speech Martin Luther King Jr. , in his speech I have a dream, is addressing the people before him for the civil rights movement at the Lincoln Memorial. “This is the noblest Roman of them all: All the conspirators save only he, Did that they did in envy of great Caesar” (Noblest). Antony and Brutus are both trying to persuade Rome with their funeral speeches and Antony thinks that Brutus and the conspirators murdered him out of envy, where as Brutus says he did it because he loves Rome and that Caesar was too ambitious. Brutus and Antony both said their funeral speeches and they were similar and different in many ways, and both had different outcomes. The speeches were similar because they both talked about their love for Caesar. They were different because Antony talked about all the reasons Caesar wasn’t ambitious and how Brutus was wrong but still a “honorable man”, as he states many times.

In the play "The Tradedy of Julius Caesar" had a lot of action and a lot of back stabbing and I mean that literally and figuratively. The people I want to talk about to day are Brutus and Antony, and talk about their speech they gave to their adiuance. I want to compare them and see what is similar and what is different. There was a lot of action happening in the play and when you start to get in to the play your suspence starts to build up and then you read the ending and it was horrible what happened.
Brutus 's speech: Brutus speaks to the people of rome why he killed caesar so they will not turn on him. He talked about how he didnt kill him because he didn 't love him but because it was for the better of rome. He also tells the people of rome that letting caesar become king would mean the government type would change and all the wars and hard work his family had put into the government would go away. He also states, for the welfare of rome that he would die for rome if rome demands his death Rhetorical devices: Brutus used questions, logos, parallelism, and pathos to stir the people of rhome. When speaking to the crowd, Brutus was very confident in his decision of killing Caesar. Brutus was also certain that letting Antony speak at Caesar’s funeral would do no harm, and he thought wrong. When Brutus addressed the crowd, he explained that he was Caesar’s friend, yet, he cherished the welfare of Rome more than he cherished Caesar. Brutus remind the crowd of how honorable of a man he is and how they had always respected him. He asks the crowd to “ensure” him in their “wisdom” and to awaken their senses so that they will better judge him.
In the play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Brutus and Mark Anthony give speeches after Caesars death to the people of Rome. Each speech has it's benefits for the matter as well as shows each players true intentions for deciding what's next for the city of Rome. Brutus wants what's best for the people while Mark Anthony wants another dictatorship to rule. Each Character has his own skills to help develop their plot for the conclusion of the play.
Marcus Junius Brutus and Mark Antony both deliver speeches to justify the death of Julius Caesar in 44 BCE and both use Logos and Ethos to convince the Roman citizens to join their sides. Both sides deliver their speeches with vehemence and start by elucidating why Brutus killed Caesar to begin with, why Antony’s desire for revenge is justified, and what the future of Rome will be because of his death. Antony teases the citizens of Rome with the will of Caesar that he holds in hand and claims it will dishonor Brutus and the other conspirators and is also one of his vital uses of Ethos in his speech. Most of the citizens, if not all of them side with Antony and will most likely help him accede to a great title of power in the future and also betray Brutus because of what Antony has them believe, i.e. an ignoble assassin. Brutus and Antony 's speeches were both compelling, although Antony´s speech was more successful, but it is because he was able to manipulate the people of Rome with
