Charles Hardin Holly better know as Buddy Holly was born on September 7, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas. He is one of the best singers as well as a tragic one. He was known for his talented singing in the mid 1950s. There was many stories written about a tragic event in his life. One of the most popular references to his death was “American Pie” by Don McLean. In this report I will tell about his early life and many, many accomplishments. In Buddy’s early life he was the youngest of his three siblings, Travis, Larry, and Patricia Holley. His parents names were Ella Holley and Lawrence Odell. His real name was Charles, but he got the nickname Buddy because his mother thought that Charles, his real name, was to big for “Her little boy”. His last name was also misspelled by many. It is supposed to be Holley with an E in his name, but many people in the music industry
He had learned many instruments at a young age such as the Piano and Fiddle but learned the guitar from his brothers. After his high school years he created a band that played country music on his home towns radio station. His music brought Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan to become singers the way Buddy wanted to become a singer. Another fact I found out was that The Beatles chose their name because of how close to Buddy’s music group, The Crickets. Buddy Holly was one of the Worlds greatest Rock and Roll singers. I think that if he was born more than 100 years later than he already was he would still be famous. I think this because he was a pioneer in classic rock and people everywhere would like a throwback singer that could sing like the people in the 50s. He would also bring something newer to the table that is different from our modern music. Plus many of the people that enjoy classic rock and roll today might like to hear Buddy Holly play in the future
