Bullying is something many people around the world have been trying to stop. Some people do it to make themselves feel better, some cause of their parents, and some just for entertainment. No type of bullying is the right thing to do and many people are suffering from it each day. Bullying is getting worse and worse every year and we need to find a solution to end it around the world, therefore, we need everyone to step up to help stop this world problem. Bullying has become a large world problem that can lead to the death of children. Bullying is an aggressive act where someone intentionally causes another harm or distress. (Bullying). Staff at Alice Birney Middle School will launch a violence prevention initiative with help from the Medical University of South Carolina. (Innovative Approaches to…). For the children with serious behavior problems they will be using a comprehensive bullying prevention effort and multisystemic therapy. (Innovative Approaches to…). The entire school will participate in violence prevention activities, a prevention program developed by Olwues. (Innovative Approaches to…). Students will participate in the therapy, an intensive family and home-based treatment that attempts to change how children act at their home, if they show an aggressive behavior. (Innovative Approaches to…). A violence prevention program developed by SafePlace called “Expect Respect” will be implemented into six elementary schools in Austin, Texas. The victim and the bully can experience long-lasting harmful effects. (Sampson). Some effects that bullying can have are anger, depression, stress and suicide. (School Bullying). Close to 50% of all children will experience bullying at a point while they are in school, According to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. (Child Bullying). School bullying statistics show that about 25% of children in the United States are bullied regularly. (Child Bullying). Adolescents are more likely to bully if they experience home aggression, or are influenced by negative peer relationships. (School Bullying). Surveys from around the world show that victims can fail to tell a teacher or a parent. (Sampson). Taking steps to preventing bullying from even starting is one way to stop bullying. (Prevent Bullying). Bullying mostly happens when there is no adult supervision, we need to make sure students are visible in hallways, stairwells, cafeterias, locker rooms, buses and sidewalks. (Bullying Prevention). Consequences for bullies, educating potential victims of bullying, and providing a bully policy are ways to prevent bullying. (Prevent Bullying). A simple way to avoid hurting someone is to stop and think before you do or say anything. (What You Can
