In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, the audience witness multiple acts of bullying through the way they treat piggy through verbal abuse and some physical. The bullying on the island is very much like the bullying at school because of piggy being called piggy even though he hates that name and roger kicking in the littluns sand castle. All of the bullying on the Island is much like how it is in school for kids. While the bullying that is in schools is very bad and the school is still extremely hard on bullying at the schools most people believe that the role of helping children with bullying at school is the school’s problem is the way to go.

Brodyjan it shows us bullying in many different ways. In one of the first paragraphs used it shows us the bullying in a firehouse and shows us what bullying really looks like. In the article it states,”According to other firefighters, an endless flow of sometimes vicious and cruel taunts is common in firehouse culture, with verbal abuse most often inflicted on young firefighter to toughen them up.” This shows us that bullying is most often taken on the new kids and the smaller to toughen them up to be hard and it doesn't end up that way normally. The way it comes into play with this is that the students get picked on by the older kids and the school should separate grades during lunch and recess so they don’t get a chance to bully the little kids. In the article it also shows us what extremes kids can go to as bullying continues. It states, “ In a videotape, the young gunmen attributed their acts to retaliation for years of taunting that they said friends and relatives had inflicted on them because of an unwillingness to dress and act as others wanted.” as this quote states that the kids had taken this terrible act because of bullying by others because of the way they acted and the way they dressed. This happens at school because they always have that one group of kids who are always getting picked on because of the way they dress and this could be solved by having uniforms to stop the bullying with how they dress. There is a good point in the article Why Do Decent People Bully? There is a great point that shows us what bullies run off of and what makes them tick. The quote says, “ This is the logic of cognitive dissonance - that strange need to keep the ego reassured that what is being done is all right and proper and above all consistent.” This means that these bullies are doing this to prove they are better and worth more than others by maintaining an ego above others.
