For my Capstone Project, I am going with the Cleveland Clinic. The Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest hospitals in the country, and they are also the most respected among the American people. It is owned and operated by the Cleveland clinic foundation, and it was established in 1921. They are a non-profit academic hospital led by doctors. The doctors are full time, salaried employees. It does not matter how many times and or how many procedures they perform on a patient, they are paid the same no matter what. By having the doctors be salary, it eliminates the unnecessary tests and or procedures, and it encourages each physician to talk to their colleagues and practice the way they should be practicing. Any company that is a member of this, signed a pledge stating that they will maintain a “tone at the top”, which demands business conduct and compliance programs. They were asked to be an Inaugural partner because of the company’s ethical procedures. While studying the analysis of the hospital, they seemed to have quite a few strengths that set them apart from other hospitals. They were ranked in the top 3 in the nation in the areas of urology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Rheumatology, and Orthopedics. Their pediatric doctors ranked in the top 50 in nine different categories. The hospital was also voted as one of the 150 great places to work in healthcare in 2016. Some areas of weaknesses are that there seems to be a disconnect with many areas of the hospital, higher cost of care especially in Imaging and lab testing, poor documentation by physicians which results in allocated length of stay among patients, and not all facilities are using the same Electronic Medical Record System. The hospital also faces some major threats as the years go on. The doctors that founded the clinic believed in diverse specialists working and communicating as a unit, and focusing on providing exceptional patient care. They achieve this by providing safe care, high value care, high quality care, and patient satisfaction. The clinic was the first hospital to make patient experience the main goal, the first to hire a CEO, and the first to establish an office of patient experience. The Cleveland Clinic will continue to be the best hospital out there as long as they continue to offer less expensive care, strong leadership, and continue to focus on
