On Wednesday, 10/17/15, at approximately 2036hrs I noticed a white Nissan Truck bearing the license plate number 4SW 597 parked in South City Park at the Big Brick shelter house. I noticed an unoccupied truck but the truck was running. I radioed the license plate number to Brookfield’s Communication Officer Lindbloom. Communication Officer Lindbloom advised the license plate number checked back to a James Mauritzen on a 1997 Nissan Truck registered in Missouri.
I exited my patrol vehicle to check the vehicle. While exiting my patrol vehicle I noticed a white male that was concealed in the Big Brick shelter house, exit the Big Brick shelter house and made contact with me. I started a conversation with the male and asked him his name and if I could see his driver’s license. I identified the man as Lucas James Mauritzen. Mauritzen advised his truck kept dying so he had to keep the truck running or his battery will die. Mauritzen advised he was at the park charging his laptop, and he had been fighting with his girlfriend. I asked Mauritzen where he was staying at. Communication Officer Lindbloom, advised Maurtizen is a sex offender with an extensive record, no positive warrants.
I made contact with Mauritzen and advised him if he broke down on the way home just give the Brookfield Police Department a call. Mauritzen advised he would give the Brookfield Police Department if he did. Mauritzen advised he was leaving for home and left.
After I made contact with Mauritzen I called Communication Officer Lindbloom, and she advised me his DOR record in detail. I went to the Brookfield Police Department and asked Communication Officer Lindbloom if MULES indicated any restrictions on Mauritzen since he’s a sex offender.
