During this assignment, I was able to interview a new teacher (Three years of experience or less) and a veteran teacher (Ten years of experience or more). I had the opportunity to interview a new social studies teacher, and and an experienced fifteenth year business teacher. This interview assignment gave me a thorough insight of the teaching profession, and the different styles of teaching. Gilles identifies her biggest struggle as staying organized with her classroom and paperwork. “It’s difficult for me to stay organized because I teach two different subjects - special education and social studies. It’s important for me to stay on top of my paperwork, or I will fall behind.” In contrast, Mrs. Epane’s biggest struggle is staying up to date with the ethical teaching practices. “The ethical teaching practices have changed drastically since I started teaching fifteen years ago. According to Ms. Gilles, “I enjoy addressing positive student behaviors because it makes students feel good about themselves. Even on bad days, I will find at least one student to compliment during each class.” In addition, she will occasionally bring food to encourage the students to work hard throughout class. However, she will only reward students once per month, rather than every week. Similarly, Mrs. Epane will directly address student behaviors during class, as, “It’s important to recognize positive student behaviors so others may follow in their footsteps. Rewards may include, but are not limited to: late assignment passes, free food passes, and free tardy
